Evgeny Sidikhin's Biography
The actor faced numerous challenges: the loss of his mother, the disability and subsequent death of his beloved stepmother, the horrors of war in Afghanistan, and a serious illness. Yet, these experiences only made Sidikhin stronger. While portraying tough characters in films, he realized the importance of being different within his family and developed a genuine affection for his mother-in-law. Now, as a father of three daughters, he has discovered the true happiness that eluded him in childhood. Although some criticized him for his silence regarding the SVO, the artist demonstrated through his actions which side he truly supported.
Evgeny Sidikhin's Childhood and Youth
The future actor was born on October 2, 1964, in Leningrad. His father, Vladimir Grigorievich, worked as a shop foreman at a shipyard, although some sources state he was a painter. His mother, Klara Grigorievna, was a teacher of Russian language and literature. In addition to the eldest, Zhenya, the family included two more boys, Sasha and Kostya.
A series of tragedies in the family of Evgeny Sidikhin
When Evgeny was only 5 years old, a great tragedy happened in the family. His mother died of cancer. The woman was only 29 years old. For two years Vladimir Grigorievich could not even smile.
"A very fast illness, oncology. My dad told me, and then we went into a well on Barmaleev Street, stood there and asked each other not to cry. Two men, a small one and a big one, were sobbing," recalled Evgeny Sidikhin.
The grief-stricken father gathered all his will into a fist and after some time married for the second time. It seemed that everything was fine: a woman appeared in the family who was ready to replace the three boys' real mother. Little Zhenya accepted the kind and sincere Alla Nikolaevna, and even began to call her mom. But the happiness did not last long. It was as if an evil fate hung over the family: the woman was diagnosed with a brain tumor, and after five operations she became disabled. Five years later, the father's new wife also died of a serious illness. Which became the second tragedy after the death of his mother.
Vladimir Grigorievich nevertheless found family happiness with a woman named Lyudmila, who was 20 years younger than him. He spent the last seven years of his life in this marriage.
"We communicated constantly, especially in the last years when he lived with Lyudmila. It was a great happiness, I looked at him and my heart rejoiced. He finally got such an outlet," Evgeny recalled.
Before that, the family had gone through hard times. Zhenya's father began to drink more and more often. The man raised his sons himself. His relatives helped him: his first wife's mother, who had survived the siege, and relatives from Siberia.
Evgeniy's childhood is inextricably linked with memories of the village of Krasnozerskoye in the Novosibirsk region. His grandparents always sat at the head of the table, with numerous relatives nearby. This gave the boy the feeling that he was part of a large family.
By this time, the boy had already formed his own interests: he was involved in sports and dreamed of the sea. Zhenya wanted to become a captain and attended the Young Sailors Club at the Palace of Pioneers. He was especially proud of his naval uniform. In addition, the boy had been involved in freestyle wrestling since the fourth grade and had achieved considerable success. Yevgeny Sidikhin became the champion of Leningrad five times and could have made a good sports career if a new hobby had not appeared in his life: theater and cinema.
— I had a naval uniform and, as they say, "swept Nevsky with my bell-bottoms." This passion was quite strong, I even cut out pictures of ships and pasted them into a special notebook. I dreamed of sailing to distant lands, — shared Sidikhin.
Army, Afghanistan and Typhus
In 1983, the young man entered the acting department of LGITMiK, but already in his first year he went into the army. At first, he served in Turkmenistan. Even Evgeny, who was prepared in sports, felt what real courage was:
— Then I thought that there are parallel worlds in life, because in relation to the theater institute, the class, the white piano, the teacher who says: "Boys, you are hussars, you are at a ball, girls, you are like Natasha Rostova" — here there is something that I could not imagine. Sand, a complete lack of water, a tent and the "friendliness" of the officer corps, — shared Evgeny.
Fate had prepared a new test for Evgeny. He was sent to serve in the tank troops in Afghanistan. It is known that Sidikhin took part in combat operations there, and then contracted typhus. However, the actor never shared the details, because at that time the 18-year-old theater student had seen many tragedies:
- Well, what's there to remember?! I remember the enemy running, I shot, he fell, I was upset... But let's not talk about that. There are different laws in war... - he said.
Career of Evgeniy Sidikhin
After two years in the army, Evgeniy's desire to become an actor did not disappear. He entered the same university again and graduated from it.
Sidikhin became famous after his role as a former boxer in the famous perestroika action film “Behind the Last Line”. It is curious that this film became prophetic for the actor Igor Talkov. It was Sidikhin’s character who shot the character played by Talkov. Filming of this episode took place on October 6, 1990. Exactly one year later, to the day, Igor Talkov was shot during a concert at the Yubileiny Sports Palace from a pistol of the same system.
- Igor played amazingly, he died so beautifully in the film. <…> At that time, many people were killed, those were the times. But that it happened on the day when he died in front of the camera, when I shot him… Exactly one year later. I can’t count the signs. It’s a fatal coincidence, - Sidikhin reasoned.
Evgeniy got into the image of a brutal macho, so most often he plays superheroes, strong and brave men. Another significant role in Sidikhin's career was the incorruptible Major Kudasov in the series "Banditsky Petersburg".
Currently, the actor has over 100 projects to his credit. Among them are such films as Russian Transit, Wolf Blood, Russian Project, Mom, Don't Grieve, Spetsnaz, Liteiny, Spasskaya, President's Vacation, Hotel Eleon and many others.
Personal life of Evgeniy Sidikhin
The actor lost his mother early, so he knew that family happiness should be protected. He has adhered to this principle all his life. He met his only wife while still a student. Tatyana was a student and lived in a rented apartment. One day, he and his friend decided to invite a group of young people to their place. When he saw Tanya, Evgeny realized that he had fallen in love for life.
Within a few hours there was no doubt that he was ready to do anything to win the heart of his new acquaintance. His wife was offered to stay overnight, and when everyone fell asleep, Tatyana asked him to tell her a bedtime story. The guy, who had been deprived of female affection as a child, melted when the girl tucked the blanket in for him.
"We laid him on a folding bed. And after this tale I got up and covered his legs with a blanket: I thought that he was probably cold. We looked at each other then, still calmly, but attentively," Tatyana recalled.
The next day, Evgeny stood on the threshold of her house with his demobilization suitcase, in which lay a pillow. From the threshold, he began to read poems of his own composition, from which the girl's heart melted. From then on, they began to live together, but the guy had to get a blessing from the bride's parents.
- I was sitting, telling something, as always, showing off. And about an hour later I felt something in this man, without which I no longer want to live. The next day I came to Tanya with a demobilization briefcase, in which there was one pillow. I wrote her a poem, borrowed someone's melody and sang a song, which, apparently, won her over, - Sidikhin confided.
A Tricky Test from the Mother-in-Law
The Female Kingdom: The Marriage of Evgeny Sidikhin and Tatyana Borkovskaya
Soon the young couple got married. Their first daughter, Polina, was born when her parents were still students. To support the family, Evgeny worked as a janitor for a month, tried to earn money through currency fraud, and studied at the same time. After school, he had to wash diapers, because his wife had a long and difficult recovery from childbirth. Evgeny bravely went through all these trials:
"I would come home to a mountain of diapers. There were no diapers, and it was my sacred duty to wash. Tanya had not yet fully recovered from giving birth, and I would come home at two in the morning after college and literally wash my hands until they bled," the actor admitted.
When the eldest daughter turned 9, another baby was born - Aglaya. And after another 9 years, Sidikhin's wife gave birth to a third daughter, they named her Anfisa.
— Being a father is a great happiness. They are all different girls. They were born under different planets: one in summer, another in winter, the third in autumn. You could say they are from different galaxies, — the artist shared.
It is curious that Evgeniy, his wife and their three daughters lived with his wife's mother. The actor's relationship with his mother-in-law was excellent. He even jokingly says that in case of a divorce he will keep his mother-in-law.
What did Evgeny Sidikhin say about SVO?
It is known that the actor actively collaborated with Ukrainian directors and took part in many projects. After the start of the special operation, headlines like: "Where did actor Evgeny Sidikhin disappear after the start of the SVO?" began to appear more and more often. Many remembered his interview, where Evgeny said that it made no difference to him which country he worked in:
- Yes, I have been here for many years, actually, I have come and worked before. For me, there is no particular difference between going to Yaroslavl, Gelendzhik, Ukraine, France or Norway. <…> I feel very comfortable in Ukraine. I come here as if I were visiting relatives, - he said.
The public expected support from the actor, who fought in Afghanistan and worked in Ukraine for a long time. In 2022, Sidikhin expressed his concerns about the confrontation between Russia and Ukraine. He also said that in 2017, he was in Kyiv for seven months and communicated a lot with local residents:
— I walked, drove around [Kyiv], talked. And you know, people are the same everywhere. And what is happening is not needed by anyone, naturally. But nothing will happen. You just have to think about something and do something. Otherwise, nothing will happen on its own, — he said.
In March 2024, as part of the all-Russian charity event "Heroes are not born", organized in support of the SVO fighters and civilian victims, Evgeny Sidikhin performed in Kemerovo with the musical and literary composition "Donbass. Revival".
The actor read a poem by the poet Pavel Besposhchadny from Gorlovka, “Nobody has brought Donbass to its knees, and nobody has been given the chance to bring it to its knees…” The performance was accompanied by documentary footage from the SVO zone and photographs of Russian soldiers.
“The main thing for me was to read the poem so confidently that no one, even Russia’s enemies, would have any doubts about our truth and our desire to protect our people,” Sidikhin said after the performance.
Evgeniy Sidikhin now
The actor has been touring the country with the play Destiny as a Gift. In 2024, several films featuring him, including Doggy, Identification, and I Don't Remember Anything, are set to be released.
Evgeny Sidikhin is also preparing to become a grandfather for the second time. His eldest daughter, Polina, has followed in his footsteps and become an actress. She is raising her daughter but chooses not to marry, believing that love is more important than a marriage certificate.
On the other hand, his middle daughter, Evgeniya, had a grand wedding. Initially, she and her husband planned a modest event, but her mother, Tatyana, insisted on a larger celebration. Eventually, the couple embraced the idea, and the lavish wedding took place. Now, rumors in the media suggest that Aglaya, Sidikhin's youngest daughter, is preparing to become a mother.
In his free time, Sidikhin not only focuses on his family but also enjoys sailing, a passion from his youth.
